Golf gears up for NAIA competition

Only a few more tournaments remain for the men's and women's golf teams as their season is coming close to an end.
The women's golf team competed in the Pirate Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday in Parkville, Mo., at the National Golf Course. The tournament was hosted by Park University. Scores were unavailable at press time.
On April 7 and 8 both the men's and women's teams participated in the Bison Invitational in Shawnee, Okla., at the Shawnee Country Club.
Leading the way for the men's team was Kenneth Wright, business sophomore. He finished fifth out of 59 golfers with 74-75-149. Andrew Manley, accounting junior, took seventh with 78-73-151. Tyler Lytton, business senior, finished ninth with 75-77-152. Pat Fulton, business senior, finished 15th with 77-77-154. Jared Paul, business sophomore, placed 46th with 83-86-169. They finished third out of ten teams.
Wright said, "The team played decent but gave away a lot of shots and the weather did not cooperate. It was pretty cold and rainy."
Blair Koehn, business junior, led the lady Builders by taking second out of 41 golfers with 85-80-165. Rachael Locke, business senior, finished 23rd with 89-102-191. Amy Kellner, graduate student, placed 26th with 95-97-192. Kenna Corley, digital arts junior, finished 30th with 95-100-195. Kaydee Johnson, business freshman, placed 31st with 102-97-199. The women finished fifth out of eight teams.
The next competition for both teams will be the NAIA Golf Regional Championships in Bonner Springs on April 28 and 29 at the Sunflower Hills Golf Course.
