Barry Sanders isn't that far away. Given the fact that he retired a decade or so ago he's relatively easy to find. I suggest you take a look at my current and all-time favorite, website Youtube and take a gander at some of his heroics. A simple search for his name will bring up individual highlights and packages of his entire career. They drop the jaw as low as they did in his prime. The amazement has yet to wear thin. I still scratch my head at the physics being ignored as he twists and turns and starts and stops his way to pay dirt. Don't stop with Mr. Sanders. You're within shouting distance of a collection of Shaq's fiercest dunks. My favorite is from 1989 in the McDonald's All-American game when he stole a pass and dribbled the length of the court for the throw down. You'll get lost in the magic that was 1998 when Mark McGwire belted 70 homeruns. You can view all the long balls in order if you please. Mike Tyson's greatest knockdowns, and funniest interviews, can be unearthed on the website as well, keeping the bloodthirsty type quenched. I don't know if I have more fun watching the pummeling or hearing the threats he gives to his foes and their families. I could keep going, but I'm sure my point has already gotten across. Youtube is currently the hippest thing going on the internet today. In fact, it received more traffic in the year 2007 than the entire internet did in the year 2000. That's some serious traffic. Outside of porn you can find anything you wish. Some parents see fit to put their baby's first words. Photographers put random pictures of clouds on board. It's even a great place to go for some stand-up comedy clips. You can put whatever you want on Youtube and people might even watch it, but we sports fans know the real reason why it's there. It's there for us to remember. Along the way sports provide us with so many memories. Most have their own favorite memory. The more popular that memory the better chance you can relive it as many times as you wish from the comfort of your computer screen. It's easy to upload a video, and it's easy to watch it whenever you have the time. It's even there to help us remember the stuff we don't remember. ABA basketball, pre-color TV, World Series games, and even the Badminton World Championship from 2003 can all be found on this massive database. We were all alive during the time of the last one, but I doubt any of us caught it the first time around. The website lends itself to those with downtime. We can watch anything we want to. It may serve as a function for anyone who wants to bring back the memories of their favorite moments, or the ones we missed, but it's a Cinderella slipper fit for the sports fan. It couldn't be more vital to our fandom. Now you must excuse me, I have to go relive the Cardinals winning the World Series in '06.
