The track team will travel to Wichita this weekend for the Friends University Invitational.
Last weekend the women's team placed third overall and the men placed second at the Cowley Tiger Invitational.
The men's 4x1 met the standard for the national outdoor championship following the 4x4 coming in third with a national qualifying mark.
Brandon Hessing, sports management senior, won the triple jump with a 47-10 ½ and got an automatic qualifying standard for the national championship.
Jim Helmer, head men's track coach, said, "This was another great step in the right direction for our men's team. Our guys had a total of 18 personal best performances and we were very competitive in a quality field including some of the best junior college teams in the country."
Sarah Morton, digital arts senior, placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 38-0 ¼ and Ericka Franklin, biology junior, also placed first in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Mike Kirkland, head women's track coach, said, "Coming back off of break the team worked pretty hard, I don't think anyone felt fresh. With that said, I think they did well. I feel like we made great progress with 4x1 and showed signs of improvement."
Audry Anderson, psychology senior, Brae Johnson, graduate student specialized ministries, and Alyssa Carter, psychology and religion sophomore, all had career bests.
