Each spring the Student Life Office seeks students who are enthusiastic about Southwestern
to come back and welcome in the next year's freshman class through Fall Frenzy and Builder Camp leadership.
Orientation leaders help the incoming class to engage in traditions
at SC and ease their way into college life.
Orientation leader applications
are currently available in the Student Life Office.
"Just fill out the application and then you'll interview with the Student Life staff. They pick the people they feel are leaders on the campus and will best represent Southwestern," said Giovanni Garcia, communication
junior. Garcia is the public relations executive for StuFu.
Matt Webb, communication junior, said, "The best part of being an orientation leader for Builder Camp is getting to meet new people."
Webb was an orientation leader for last year's Builder Camp.
"For me when I first came to Builder Camp as a freshman, it was kinda scary not having anyone
I knew beside me and being around strangers all day long. Being that orientation leader, Builder Camp was twice as fun because you had someone beside
you," said Webb.
Lyndsie Oathout, biology sophomore, also said she enjoyed
being an orientation leader
last August.
Oathout said, "It was a great way to make them feel welcome and a great way for me to be able to interact with them. So when classes started, both the freshmen and the orientation leaders, myself included, were able to wave and say hi to each other around campus."
If you would like to help connect
with the new Builders at the beginning of next year,
Fall Frenzy applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday to the Student Life Office. For more information, contact Sheleah Taylor at ext. 6168.
