Recycling has become more important to people all over the world, and some countries have even made it a part of their everyday routines to recycle. Thinking green will not only affect
the world we live in today, it will also make our world better
for the future.
Members of Tri Beta think that it is important to recycle.
Instead of making flyers to promote their view, they have decided to involve all students on campus in a recycling competition.
Maggie Ferguson, biology senior, is the president of Tri Beta.
"We usually try to have an activity
every year, instead of flyers
we want to include the whole campus in an activity," said Ferguson.
"A recycling competition was one of the things that came up through brain storming, and we rolled with it."
People can sign up in teams. It does not have to be an organization,
which means that everyone
who wants to join can, even without being a member of a school organization.
Each team's points will be based on how much they can collect, and everything will work itself out numerically.
Even though there will be different
sizes of teams, the number
of members on each team are taken in consideration in this competition.
The competition will start right after spring break and last until April 22.
Roger Klein, biochemistry junior, is a member of Tri Beta. He is enthusiastic about the campaign.
"Basically just bringing awareness to the students about the importance of recycling is one of my expectations. One of my parts is just to get the word out," said Klein.
Ferguson said, "I hope that through the process of this competition
people will get habits, and realize how easy it really is to recycle."
