You read the posters that said, "The last movie night of the semester is tonight." Unfortunately, it was February when you saw them posted. Not April. Many students are wondering what happened to the campus-wide movie event that they have become accustomed to each month. Citing the student activity fee that has covered the cost of the event over the past few years, many think they've received a raw deal. "The budget simply can't hold it in this semester. The theater upped their prices 25 cents per ticket over the summer, and that adds up quickly because we've been having such great turnouts," said Sarah Morton, digital arts senior. Morton is president of Student Foundation. "We also lost a lot of students from this past fall semester to this spring. When we lost those students we also lost the help of their activity fee, which helps pay for things like SC movie night," Morton said. Although StuFu had to cut some losses, they're not done putting on campus activities quite yet. "There is a possibility for a charter bus to go to Sioux City, Iowa for the women's national basketball tournament," said Morton. Right now, StuFu is gauging the interest level among students to see if the campus would like to have a day trip package to see the opening game for the Lady Builders in the tournament. "It might cost something like 15 dollars a student," said Morton. "March will be low-key for student activities as far as campus life. But in April, we'll pick it back up again," said Morton. The group is planning another Intersanctum event in April, and the long awaited, third annual Stau Bau. Stau Bau is a week long class against class competition, and StuFu members currently have some big irons in the fire for the planning of the week's games and activities. "We're trying to make that bigger this year," said Morton. "StuFu will be working with SGA and FCC to combine for the best Stau Bau yet." Drew Logsdon is a senior majoring in communication.
