Thanking his dad, coaches, and trainer, Charles Wells is overwhelmed with excitement. "I felt like I ran a horrible race, I called my dad and told him about it," said Wells. Unknowingly at that time, he had just broken the school record

in the 60 meter run with a time of 6.97.

Wells said, "I'm excited I broke the school record. It's an accomplishment that comes with qualifying for nationals."

Jim Helmer, men's track coach said, "One of our goals this year is to qualify athletics for national championships and try to have All Americans."

The indoor track team is certainly

doing a good job of reaching

that goal.

"As a whole the team is continuing

to make a lot of progress."

Mike Kirkland, womens track coach, said.

The 2 mile Relay team for the women placed first and qualified

for provisionals.

Sarah Morton placed first in the triple jump for the women. Freshman Paige Carswell placed second. Both placed their career best overall.

The track team will prepare for yet another meet at Oklahoma

Christian this weekend Feb. 16.

Nique Wallace and Ashley Robinson had personal bests in the 200 meter dash.

Wallace, graduate education major said, "I was out this week with hip and groin problems, but the meet went as best it could for me. I was happy with my performance and I was consistent.

I can't wait till the next meet. I love OU's track."
