I don't really know why "Silent Night" has to start playing before Thanksgiving.
That's my only gripe though. Otherwise, I'm just as ready for Christmas season as I'll ever be.
In fact, I'm so ready for the holiday that I am in the buying mood.
So many of my friends are fans of sports. What kind of friend would I be if I didn't give them a gift to suit that love for their favorite team?
The idea struck me that it might be a good idea to include my shopping list in my column. I think that many readers might enjoy seeing what I am getting for my closest friends.
For that Missouri Tigers fan on my list… This is a shocker to see the Mizzou fan at the tops of my list. Usually I don't have anything to do with them at all. I'm raised to hate that side of the border, but when it comes to Christmas I just have a big heart I suppose. What I have decided to get all the Tiger fans is a big box of cotton. After all, that's the bowl the Tiger's football team has earned itself. I figure what better way to celebrate that bowl. I can't help but feel they might be a little bit disappointed with this gift though. Something tells me they might have preferred oranges.
For that Chicago Bears fan on my list… This was a hard choice for me to make. I knew that I wanted to get my Chicago Bears fan a special gift. I thought about giving them a Super Bowl ring. Everyone knows they came just short of getting one on their own last year, so why not aid the process by helping them skip a few steps? After mulling it over several times I finally decided it was best to go ahead and give them a shiny new quarterback. It seems as if theirs isn't working quite properly. It seems to work well enough to get by, but fail in the clutch a little too much.
For that Boston Celtics fan on my list… I've always been a fan of the motif. It made this choice quite a bit easier. Why not give the Celtics a little luck of the Irish for their Christmas present? I can't resist giving them a four leaf clover. With the lucky landing of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett this summer I feel they might be due for some bad luck shortly, especially now that they own the best record in the league at this point in time. They have more wins in early December then they did in late February of last year. Yeah they definitely need something to keep that luck going strong.
