The Lady Builders start conference play tomorrow night by hosting Friends University. Last season Friends University finished fifth in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with a record of 9-9. This year the Lady Falcons are picked to finish third in the KCAC. The Lady Falcons are currently 7-1 to lead the conference.

Southwestern finished fourth in the KCAC last season with a record of 12-6. The Lady Builders defeated the Lady Falcons three different times by 18 points or more each time. The Lady Builders are picked to win conference this year, and they look to start it off against Friends University.

The Lady Builders will play Ottawa University Dec.1. Ottawa is picked to finish eighth in the KCAC this year.

The Lady Builders are currently 5-1. The team defeated Baker University 64-59 Nov. 26. Statistics were not available at press time.

They defeated Manhattan Christian College 96-41 Nov.19. In the game against Manhattan Christian, Kara Beal, senior guard, led all scorers with 22 points, three assists, and three steals. Tylar Hartfield, freshman forward, contributed 15 points to help lead the Lady Builders to victory. Hartfield was seven for seven from the field and one for one from the free throw line.

Hartfield said, "I think we played hard. I just wanted to contribute the best way I could and I think I did what I could to help us win the game."

Beal said, "Our team is getting better. I don't think we're where we need to be but I think we're getting there. I think this game showed us how good we can be if we do what we are coached to do."

The Lady Builders lost two exhibition games two weeks ago to Fort Hays State University and Washburn University. The team lost to Fort Hays State University 61-53 Nov. 15 and 75-44 to Washburn University Nov.17. Even though these two games don't count against their record, the Lady Builders look to improve from these games.
