For the 28th year in a row the men's cross country team won the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference meet. The women also took the conference championship.
"It was a great day for the program," said Jim Helmer, head cross country coach.
The men's team was heavily favored at this meet and it went as planned, said Helmer. "They got there and took care of business."
Andrew Topham, chemistry pre-engineering freshman, placed second. "It was a cool and sunny day," said Topham. "I do what the coach says, and that's why I feel I came in second."
Audry Anderson, psychology senior, said, "I feel we did a very good job. The course was flat and fast which made it easy to run on and helped with times."
"I have been trying to beat 19 and I finally did," said Anderson.
The women's team had an average time of 19.17.
The regional meet is this weekend in Omaha Neb. There will be a total of 17 teams there, nine from the conference. The men's team is going to be favored at this meet as well. The women's team will have more of a battle with Parks University which has an outstanding team.
"As long as we do our best we will have a good outcome," said Helmer.
