Another Lady Builders team is getting ready for an exciting year. The women's basketball team is hard at work preparing for the season.
Dave Denly, head coach, said, "This fall is extremely important for us. We have 12 new players and only about four practices before our first pre-season game. The girls needed to take the condition serious and have done so."
The Lady Builders are built with a 22-person roster with six senior leaders.
"We as coaches have little expectations. It's mainly the seniors who've taken the role of pushing everyone, especially the freshmen," said Denly.
Jenna Wilson, senior forward, said, "We as seniors have been here for a while and know how it can get sometimes.
"We just try to make all the girls feel welcomed. We're all here for a reason and serve a purpose, and that's to make the team better."
Jason VenJohn, assistant coach, said, "We were undersized last year, so I was told to get some post players. We look for talent, of course, but we also look for character.
"The girls in past years that have been brought in had good character that not only benefited the team but the school as well."
Denly said, "We've struggled in the past against bigger teams, but I feel we have some girls that will help us."
The Lady Builders finished last year's season with a 18-12 overall record, going 12-6 in conference play. Wilson said, "I was really disappointed with last year's results. We could have done really well, when instead we struggled and were up and down all season."
The Builders are planning to bounce back this year with high hopes for the season. VenJohn said, "If the girls get well and take in the coaching, then we should have good results."
Wilson said, "I expect us to do really good this year and win conference. That'll make me happy."
